Harper Bohlen's Resume
For all of those who want to hire and/or mock.
My professional life on one page
Ok first and foremost, for those that want the most recent detailed resume; it's here in .pdf format. Alternatively, if, like me, you avoid .pdf's, here's a friendly text version.
An abbreviated version can be found below.
- Graduated from Northwestern University (Go Cats!) in 1999 majoring in economics. While in school, work experience ranged from interning with a Biotechnology start-up, to delivering packages as a bike messenger in the Chicago Loop. Varied to say the least.
- I also discovered a passion for building and designing things. This interest led to building a robot for competition, and, more recently, electric go-karts, electric cigar box guitars, and a turntable to "scratch" mp3's on my computer.
- Upon graduating, I had an excellent opportunity and subsequent experience working with Finnpro Painting & Restoration.
- I wanted to expand my skill set in small business, project management, and sales methods; so I moved to Michigan to work in commercial and residential real estate.
- My career started to branch in several directions while working with the real estate firm. I began to consult with real estate firms on IT, marketing, and web design issues. I also began to work by myself and with others on alternative projects.
- This has led me to where I am now: A potpourri of experiences, and several areas of varying expertise. Currently I doing freelance consulting including-
Web Design and Marketing.

Unexpectedly, the best thing I have learned through all of these experiences has been how to fail. Before anyone looking to hire me leaves this page, let me explain.
I think most successes are a result of knowing how to fail well. Assuming the goal is to be noticeable and innovative, I feel if you don't falter once in a while, you are playing it too safe and probably won't be as satisfied when finished with the larger goal.
I continually strive to use failure more and more effectively; including past errors for better future decisions.
Thus, if you are interested in hiring me, I can promise you I don't intend to be perfect, but I do promise to work with passion and purpose toward an exceptional result.
