What?

Heifer International is an organization set on working with communities not only to end hunger and poverty but also to encourage care for the earth.

Heifer Envisions... A world of communities living together in peace and equitably sharing the resources of a healthy planet.

Heifer's Mission...To work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the earth.

Heifer's strategy is... To “pass on the gift.” As people share their animals’ offspring with others – along with their knowledge, resources, and skills – an expanding network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe.

Heifer's History: This simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief caught on and has continued for over 60 years. Today, millions of families in 128 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope.

Why?

I won’t talk down to you with reasons as to why it is good to feed and aid the hungry, both locally and abroad. All politics aside, if you have problems with this concept, no problem. Feel free stop reading, enjoy your $.99 double cheeseburger and continue on your path to happiness.

I think there are several ways to aid this type of problem, and this, in my opinion, is a creative tangible attempt at a solution. I'm always interested in new and different ideas for philanthropic goals. As you can see, my list is sparse, at best. So don't hesitate to let me know if you have others!
