Pricing Information for Application Development
Web/IT Costs
Costs for web & IT applications can vary greatly often due to complexity and urgency. Being an economist at heart, I use division of labor to compete and keep costs down. Essentially this means I try and focus on what I do best including management, creative, and design activities. To improve efficiency and your costs, I then organize, evaluate and direct any appropriate basic programming needs to one of my two overseas teams, located in India and China respectively.
While I'm comfortable with this process, I understand some apprehension (privacy, communication, etc.) may exist with this method. If this is the case, please understand your needs are really all that matter. Given this, it isn't rare to do any and/or all of your project in-house.
Business/IT Costs
Not unlike the costs for Web/IT Applications, integrating business applications and solutions vary by project needs. However, given the nature of this type of design, most if not all of the projects are done in-house or on-site. However, depending on the nature of the project, I also do analysis to see if there are any cost-saving outsourcing opportunities.
Steps for Pricing
The Free Part:
- Contact me with a request. Though it is helpful, initial requests don't really need to provide much detail. Simply email me with your questions and potential work you'd like to have done
- After further communication, I'll provide an estimate. I've found budgeting concerns may affect the need for certain features. So depending on the project, I have found it helpful to use an interactive spreadsheet for estimates, allowing you to select different pricing options and scenarios.
- Essentially, the more specific you are, the more accurate pricing can be. Depending on specificity, your price will be on a per/hour or total contract basis.
- If you like what you see, simply agree to the terms and we get started!
The Not-So-Free Part
- Once we agree on contract terms, I usually need an initial deposit. This varies on situation, but typically is around 25% of the estimated contract.
- As work is underway, you will be updated as often as you like with progress reports, and available test options.
- When the initial work is complete, we will reserve some time for training, bug fixes, and anything else that aids transition.
- Upon total completion, you will be provided with any desired documentation and any available source code.
