Dealestate.com is a business concept I started nearly two years ago and has been in development on and off ever since.
The idea came about while working as a real estate agent in Michigan. To be honest, I was a mediocre salesman and I wasn't sure of the reason or reasons. I made my calls and knew my scripts; but I lacked not only the passion, but also the ability to convince myself that this was the best way to do things.
I began to look at the real estate industry as a whole and found it conflicted with both my formal, economic training, and my knowledge of potential efficiencies created by improving technology. (A quick note: Apparently I'm pretty passionate about this subject. This meant the first version of this page was about three times as long. If you'd like to read about more detailed example and explanation, please click this gently for the full page.)
Thus Dealestate.com was created. The site will work like this:
Buyers and sellers of real estate will be able to post information about the property they intend to buy or sell.
Agents who are registered with Dealestate.com can view information about the property and compete amongst themselves to offer you the best price for listing your property, or the best rebate for finding a property for you to buy.
Because one rarely selects an agent solely on price, a buyer or seller has the option to interview multiple agents, face-to-face before they select their final choice.
The goal is to eventually get it off the ground. The dream, and thing that drives me to continue working on the project is to create wealth for the buyer and seller, the people who hold the risk.
Though not finished, I believe this has been my single most important learning opportunity in regards to my professional career. I've lost money, I've made more than a few mistakes, but I've learned more about the multiple facets of business than I thought imaginable, including but definitely not limited to: management, prioritizing, budgeting, motivation, and how to "roll with the punches".
